Creating a home that blends technology, comfort, and style is no small feat. In 2021, a unique project began with a clear vision: to design a smart home that is easy to use, eco-friendly, and visually minimalistic. The Woodlands project in Pine Grove, London, stands as a remarkable example of how advanced technology and thoughtful design can come together to transform a residence into a smart paradise.

Designing a Bespoke Smart Home from the Ground Up

The client approached Intellicasa at the concept stage, seeking a system that would be intuitive for the entire family. The goal was to avoid complexity while delivering a state-of-the-art smart home experience. This meant integrating the latest smart home automation technology without compromise.

The project started with a complete rebuild, including a new basement extension. This space was designed to house a swimming pool with a dedicated party mode, creating a lively atmosphere for gatherings. Adjacent to the pool, a Virtual Reality Room was installed, featuring dynamic dancing lights that respond to the environment, adding a futuristic touch.

Beyond the basement, the home includes a gym and a unique home cinema room equipped with an 8K projector. These additions highlight the focus on lifestyle enhancement through technology.

Integrating Advanced Technology with Crestron Home Systems

Intellicasa chose Crestron Home Smart Technology to manage the home's many systems. This platform controls heating, cooling, lighting, security, gates, and audio-visual equipment, all from native Crestron touch panels placed in key locations throughout the house.

These touch panels provide a centralized control system that is straightforward for all family members to use from day one. The design team ensured the panels were discreetly installed to maintain the home's minimalistic aesthetic.

Lighting Design and Eco-Friendly Features

One of the standout features of the Woodlands project is its lighting design. Intellicasa’s engineers worked closely with the homeowners to create a lighting system that enhances the home's atmosphere while being energy efficient.

The lighting control system won the international Crestron Home Best Lighting/Shading Project award in 2021. This recognition came after careful planning and installation, focusing on both functionality and style.

The project also incorporated eco-friendly elements, such as automated shading and energy-saving heating and cooling controls. These features contribute to reducing the home's environmental footprint without sacrificing comfort.

Creating an Oasis with Garden and Outdoor Spaces

The Woodlands project extends beyond the interior. Intellicasa developed an oasis garden concept that complements the smart home technology. This garden has blossomed beautifully as summer arrived, offering a peaceful retreat that integrates with the home's automated systems.

Outdoor lighting and irrigation are controlled through the same Crestron system, allowing seamless management of the garden environment. This integration ensures that the outdoor space remains inviting and easy to maintain.

Collaboration and Expertise Behind the Project

The success of the Woodlands project is a result of close collaboration between Intellicasa’s engineers and the homeowners. The team provided expert integration of complex systems, ensuring that every element worked harmoniously.

The project demanded technical skill and creativity, especially in combining smart home technology with unique features like the Virtual Reality Room and the 8K home cinema. The lighting design services added another layer of sophistication, enhancing both the look and feel of the home.

Recognition and Impact

Winning the Crestron Home Best Lighting/Shading Project award in 2021 was a significant achievement for Intellicasa. This accolade highlights the quality and innovation of the Woodlands project among many international candidates.

The award reflects the team's dedication to delivering a smart home that is not only functional but also beautiful and sustainable. It serves as an inspiration for future projects aiming to blend technology with lifestyle.

Bringing It All Together

The Woodlands project shows how a smart home can be more than just technology—it can be a complete living experience. From the basement pool with party mode to the eco-friendly garden, every detail was designed to enhance comfort and convenience.
